Thanks for viewing!frankietanchhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00264699132927780954noreply@blogger.comBlogger23125tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6094604673802684862.post-13258230184915180602014-03-28T22:55:00.003-07:002014-03-28T23:08:33.109-07:00DIS ONE IS FER DA FLY BOYZ! DAKKADAKKAJET!I've always toyed at this idea I could build a respectable Ork Fighta that any Ork Ace would want to fly in, and with all the fighter jet kits cheaper and at a fraction, I can't help but just have a go at this!<br />
<br />
The end result, I believe, is the Dakkajet I've made is the ISO 9002 standard in the ork community [a very haughty thing to say...oops]..but hey of course there are many ork generals out there who had built and converted from some airplane kits and perhaps they are better than mine even! Please show them to me !<br />
<br />
But for the mean time, this is MINE! WAAAAGH!!~<br />
<br />
But for those who don't like to scratchbuild, bash or convert and all that hassle, please buy the offical GW Ork Bommer! Its packed with loads of stuff, and you'll have lotsa left over bits for you to build more!<br />
<br />
Now the kit I used is this 1/48 Mig: <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i1320.photobucket.com/albums/u536/frankietanch/2013-12-28130749_zps0638b1c8.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://i1320.photobucket.com/albums/u536/frankietanch/2013-12-28130749_zps0638b1c8.jpg" height="300" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
It had all the right shapes and curves that screamed "ORK" all over, but the rounded wing tips needs to go.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i1320.photobucket.com/albums/u536/frankietanch/2014-01-19194824_zps9ddf710f.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://i1320.photobucket.com/albums/u536/frankietanch/2014-01-19194824_zps9ddf710f.jpg" height="400" width="300" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
I squeezed in a Ork body and head into the cockpit with arms or legs but these covered up nicely when you paint everything black and its just his head sticking out.<br />
<br />
I then added "teeth" on the front exhaust intake, and scratchbuilded 6 supa shootas.<br />
<br />
This was a fairly easy build, I added lotsa rivets and plates here and there, and I shifted the wing tails up to the top of the rudder, the tubes are from bendy drinking straws, and some plastic plates are added :<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i1320.photobucket.com/albums/u536/frankietanch/2014-01-24110035_zps522e954a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://i1320.photobucket.com/albums/u536/frankietanch/2014-01-24110035_zps522e954a.jpg" height="300" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Some red paint job later :<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i1320.photobucket.com/albums/u536/frankietanch/2014-02-02121842_zps98163fdb.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://i1320.photobucket.com/albums/u536/frankietanch/2014-02-02121842_zps98163fdb.jpg" height="640" width="480" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i1320.photobucket.com/albums/u536/frankietanch/2014-02-02122001_zps16df9d02.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://i1320.photobucket.com/albums/u536/frankietanch/2014-02-02122001_zps16df9d02.jpg" height="640" width="480" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
The ork army is IMHO the only one that allows some humor on your models..bad spelling like FEW [Fuel] and kill tallies, and this jet even has a PEE tube ..LOL<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
The tons of stuff I am getting, from model kits, to minis to books and stuff..I need to record now the stuff I need to do NOW, so as to keep in persecptive instead of jumping here and there and not getting anyhting done at all.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgAPWmaxOZXhHJ96ljwmAOp84k9FmAYnE2-jJn1mhC15PIJOQRn5yHJpVey6q6czJvhKLVZmEJYAdr9JZPbUWB1sNQU8rQL2eor-3PP6p4A1xdmm-zwb2xlCrUVZygs5ojXUvwSpVE1mok/s1600/be6f4f3a44f08e5741a5a0b264b890df.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgAPWmaxOZXhHJ96ljwmAOp84k9FmAYnE2-jJn1mhC15PIJOQRn5yHJpVey6q6czJvhKLVZmEJYAdr9JZPbUWB1sNQU8rQL2eor-3PP6p4A1xdmm-zwb2xlCrUVZygs5ojXUvwSpVE1mok/s1600/be6f4f3a44f08e5741a5a0b264b890df.jpg" height="271" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
So here it goes :<br />
<br />
1) <span style="color: red; font-size: large;"><strong>Ork Big Bomma</strong></span> - Body from bleach bottle, sprayer bottles and materials gathering in progress.<br />
<br />
2) <span style="color: red; font-size: large;"><strong>Mech Diorama</strong></span> - Gather all the mechs and bases and make a display.<br />
<br />
3) <strong><span style="color: red; font-size: large;">Ork Dakkajet</span></strong> - have already finished one, will post pics soon, and go ahead and make another!<br />
<br />
4) <span style="color: red; font-size: large;"><strong>Ork Battlewagon</strong></span> - WIP.<br />
<br />
5) <span style="color: red; font-size: large;"><strong>Terrain for my FAD (Fast and Dirty Army)</strong></span> - which should include some shanty african towns, mining equipment, hills.<br />
<br />
6) <span style="color: red; font-size: large;"><strong>Gun Drones</strong></span> from correction tape dispensers ! This could probaby be used in Infinity-ish or some sci-fi skirmish games more suited for 28mm scale. This was inspired by that Tom Cruise futuristic film : Oblivion. The ones in the film is a ball shaped thingy, this is not. <br />
<br />
7) <span style="color: red; font-size: large;"><strike><strong>Locust Mech</strong></strike></span> <span style="color: lime; font-size: large;"><strong>DONE </strong></span> <a href="http://wargamingnut.blogspot.sg/2014/03/locust-mech-painted-and-done-continued.html" target="_blank"><span style="color: lime;"><strong>LINK HERE</strong></span></a> from Correct tape dispenser - have this in the plans for pretty long, but its done!<br />
<br />
8) <span style="color: red; font-size: large;"><strong>Battetech Dropship from Hamterball</strong></span> - I have the ball. LOL.<br />
<br />
9) <strong><span style="color: red; font-size: large;">Do a FAD (Fast and Dirty) battle report and review. </span></strong><br />
<strong><span style="color: red; font-size: large;"></span></strong><br />
<span style="color: black;">10) <span style="color: red; font-size: large;"><strong>Build some facehuggers</strong></span> for my Aliens project. Saw some guy at Frothers Unite did it with some wires..must make some...</span><br />
<br />
<br />
The list is definitely waaaay longer than this one but just to keep things in the radar, I will just focus on these 10 items first...Amen.<br />

(continued) ....<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">.....after finally putting everything together, I finally decided on this paint scheme, which more or less pay tribune to the original Macross Glaug / Robotech Officer Battlepod's red / grey scheme (er..okaay..you can say copied...LOL) : </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"></span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i1320.photobucket.com/albums/u536/frankietanch/Locust/94054045glaug-jpg_zpsbcb1a208.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://i1320.photobucket.com/albums/u536/frankietanch/Locust/94054045glaug-jpg_zpsbcb1a208.jpg" height="320" width="225" /></a></div>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Initially I was thinking of a camo-green or desert scheme, but I guess I will have to postpone it until I managed to build another one..</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial;"></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial;">Decals added a finer level detail to it, with a few tiny weeny "CAUTION ...Technical blah blah" here and there.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial;"></span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i1320.photobucket.com/albums/u536/frankietanch/Locust/2014-03-22185620_zps24640999.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://i1320.photobucket.com/albums/u536/frankietanch/Locust/2014-03-22185620_zps24640999.jpg" height="300" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I am really proud of the foot railings I added to the right side of the Locust, I reckoned somehow when the pilot climbs out of the hatch, he has to slowly descent to the side and has somesort of tow cable to slowly lower himself down to the ground or, if you prefer, the traditional 10-metre, Anime jump [in and out of the mech] for you guys who are into the "Ninja Space Robot" kind [add some disco music on the background please]......LOL</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<span style="font-family: Arial;">The decal on the right shoulder is from a leftover M.ak. kit,, not sure whether there's a chinese word for it, but in Japanese it probably means "shark" or some fish...the decal broke but I smear some paint below to hide it and it kinda pulls off as weathering / battle damage....</span><br />

<span style="font-family: Arial;"></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial;">"Borrowed" from Joe Crusher, this mech, originally called the Ostall, became one of the "Unseens", which I believe those diehard mecha-heads will have no problems knowing what is it all about! Was there a popular Battletech novel wrote about some Locust mech pilot's adventures? Hmmm.....</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial;"></span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i1320.photobucket.com/albums/u536/frankietanch/Locust/ostall_zps4e8c1636.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://i1320.photobucket.com/albums/u536/frankietanch/Locust/ostall_zps4e8c1636.jpg" height="395" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Arial;">Anyway, I was looking at this correction-tape dispenser the other day and the more I look at it, the more it is screaming in my head :" USE ME ! I AM YOUR DESTINY OF A MECH!" </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial;"></span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i1320.photobucket.com/albums/u536/frankietanch/Locust/2014-03-12113034_zpsc3b147d9.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://i1320.photobucket.com/albums/u536/frankietanch/Locust/2014-03-12113034_zpsc3b147d9.jpg" height="300" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: right;">
<span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: xx-small;">At a dollar each, failing is a bloody option...</span></div>
<span style="font-family: Arial;"></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial;">And then there was 2 empty dental floss dispensers (I have good oral hygiene...lol) from my bitz box:</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial;"></span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i1320.photobucket.com/albums/u536/frankietanch/Locust/2014-03-12113346_zpsd0d2e003.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://i1320.photobucket.com/albums/u536/frankietanch/Locust/2014-03-12113346_zpsd0d2e003.jpg" height="300" width="400" /></a></div>
<span style="font-family: Arial;"></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial;"></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial;">... and adding all the parts together, they seem alright and asking for a challenge to my somewhat mediocre scratchbuilding skills..so here it goes!</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial;"></span><br />
<span style="color: red; font-family: Arial; font-size: large;"><strong>PREPARATION:</strong></span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<span style="font-family: Arial;"></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial;">Keyword : Research, research, research. Look at pics. Lots of pics. Make sketches, think how some common parts you see daily can come together, etc HELPS A LOT.</span><br />

<br />
<span style="font-family: Arial;">I think any modellers / scratchbuilders will have all the common equipment here: plastic glue, cutters, files, bits, paperclips (for pinning), pliers, scissors, pipcutter, plastic pipes, rods, etc of various sizes... and the trusty hand drill with various bits for pinning, drilling holes.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial;"></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial;">Some preparation work is needed, you need to sandpaper or file the plastic surface so paint / glue will stick better and Pinning always helps!</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial;"></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial;">Some plastic rod were pinned and glued to the dental floss containers:</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial;"></span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i1320.photobucket.com/albums/u536/frankietanch/Locust/2014-03-12130643_zps6832544c.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://i1320.photobucket.com/albums/u536/frankietanch/Locust/2014-03-12130643_zps6832544c.jpg" height="300" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">One thing learnt is measuring helps! This ensure when you are building the other side [Right and Left] are consistent...</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial;"></span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I was pretty random at this point onwards, from the legs, I added a piece here, a bit there...hoping the overall feel resembles the real deal...If I were to build another, the joints could have been thicker..so...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
After I got all the important parts, I hold them together for a dry fit, this part is necessary as you get a rough guide on how the overall mech will look like and I wanted it to be able to stand ON ONE LEG just like the one in the classic pic!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">What the hell was I thinking?! So I shifted the weight here and there, added 2 rocket launchers to each side. Then I glue all the parts together and glue it on a square, 1mm plastic base, and.....</span></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">TADA! It actually balances! <span style="font-size: large;">PHEW!</span> The left foot was glued to a square black plastic base while the right foot claw's back claw was only touching it, so I added a dab of glue to adhere it to the base too, so the weight distribution is better.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Arial;"></span> </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Arial;">This didnt really look 100 % like the original, but I was glad it's pretty close...</span></div>

<br />
I needed cheap, effective walls to form up corridors and walls for LV426, or some other interior corridor scenarios for my marines to run around and get chased by Aliens, so after looking around there is these packs of plastic office drawer dividers which are of the good choice, they come in 3 pieces in a pack for about SGD2 [about USD1.60 at time of writing] so I bought bunches of them.<br />
<br />
I polished /filed them with a fine grade sponge file to roughen up the surfaces so the black undercoat paint will stick later.<br />
<br />
Bits are then glued on it from coffee-stirers resembling pipes, insulation pipes, bases and pill boxes to represent cabinets, drawers to break the monotonus, boring walls.<br />
<br />
I will do a bunch with "Aliens infestation" with more tubes, gooey stuff and a victim hanging on the walls here and there later.<br />
<br />
After the black spray paint, I drybrushed them with cheap acrylic grey paint from an artist supplies shop [a large, toothpaste tube can last very long and ensure conssistency in paint colours for all the corridors]:<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

I then search for suitable signs, logos and printed them out in paper, then stick them on the corridors using PVA glue.<br />

They are in need of some AA [Anti Aircraft] battery, so.....<br />
<br />
Anyway without all the BS, here it goes :<br />
<br />
Some pill boxes from the local discount store :<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
And some thumb tacks with plastic buttoned heads, these act as the "radar dish" in front of the SAM station:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg-QcKhb9_XYvc3zlCT2TlmYO7hYjOUMwskNfhGgmNGw2HDuzYtur5MYbhXx4CY9ykcTiJnlApi495uH1Gf_k6r0DmgZ4MiOySP71HWs8DFZFdgSjce7aRTUFq1Co5VnXl_1p4l_tpfA-Y/s1600/2013-09-01+14.08.29.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg-QcKhb9_XYvc3zlCT2TlmYO7hYjOUMwskNfhGgmNGw2HDuzYtur5MYbhXx4CY9ykcTiJnlApi495uH1Gf_k6r0DmgZ4MiOySP71HWs8DFZFdgSjce7aRTUFq1Co5VnXl_1p4l_tpfA-Y/s320/2013-09-01+14.08.29.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Some bases with plastic wall hooks were used as the base, and they were glued together:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjuA1ZwxjZdfqgWyQsOY8rxlZsQ4Ejk0Tne9p2sBazWgae_rkMn0QFWqxaSZyKdOVjAcYU76nGU3QRLXwwDmjrAB9tagTwhU_2_3ccBO1JCnnhcU3WYUCCN8XFzggpAHy4IoyqINag2kjo/s1600/2013-09-01+14.31.34.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjuA1ZwxjZdfqgWyQsOY8rxlZsQ4Ejk0Tne9p2sBazWgae_rkMn0QFWqxaSZyKdOVjAcYU76nGU3QRLXwwDmjrAB9tagTwhU_2_3ccBO1JCnnhcU3WYUCCN8XFzggpAHy4IoyqINag2kjo/s320/2013-09-01+14.31.34.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
Some Hasegawa Aircraft Weapons 1/72 missiles were used:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhFSrGPTd_Bfg_GJTuNSyb3h87C7RzamofoFSYDyyLUewwtUZ8SuiHH29zk7Pf-dcUY_rRrugymEiAOiokvPgoqkE0QAODh7mbz9mt_MxTX8p6pRVQrtNmxPmGmpgD347lbamcZltPOqrI/s1600/2013-09-01+15.32.57.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhFSrGPTd_Bfg_GJTuNSyb3h87C7RzamofoFSYDyyLUewwtUZ8SuiHH29zk7Pf-dcUY_rRrugymEiAOiokvPgoqkE0QAODh7mbz9mt_MxTX8p6pRVQrtNmxPmGmpgD347lbamcZltPOqrI/s320/2013-09-01+15.32.57.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
and these were attached to the sides, with some pinning work to toughen it:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh7d10AaeGnpokIWUbcKHecrd3c96tWNTApOgzeaYwXUxswSJLJ17EuIqdJJdN8eMKNErhA2HjPOjU6RkwFmz8M7YbnhL46ALEUzzo6wpMtSEBNXmIHqpl68DIpcfaWP0Xes0wJzvB8URo/s1600/2013-09-01+17.59.12.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh7d10AaeGnpokIWUbcKHecrd3c96tWNTApOgzeaYwXUxswSJLJ17EuIqdJJdN8eMKNErhA2HjPOjU6RkwFmz8M7YbnhL46ALEUzzo6wpMtSEBNXmIHqpl68DIpcfaWP0Xes0wJzvB8URo/s320/2013-09-01+17.59.12.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
IMPORTANT:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
You MUST use either a fine sandpaper or file to roughen up the surface of plastics, especially the pill boxes so prep them for painting, otherwise the paint wont stick!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
PAINTING:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I gave them a coat of black undercoat, followed by Vallejo's Violet brown and a mixed of bone white, followed by highlight to bonewhite to bring out the details. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I will give them a gloss coat and flat spray later to protect the paint from chipping, and viola ! 3 SAM stations ready to take down the good guys / or bad guys / or some other flyers...hee hee...Here they stand next to some 20mm WW2 German soldiers give a dark african skin tone paint, essentially African rebels. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
These SAM stations can also be easily used on 15mm or 28mm. So I find them quite useful and adaptable.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
This was made sometime ago, but I guess I will share it here with some of you guys who had those toy cars lying around, could'nt afford the crazy prices of a GW one, so...<br />
<br />
why not build one ?<br />
<br />
This used to be a cross country toy car which unfortunately I've lost the pic of it, but any buggy car of about the official size will do. This one has some nice fenders infront and the wheels have those rough ridges which is nice and screamming WAAAGH all over...keke<br />
<br />
The original body of the vehicle had a metal frame, which I've unscrewed and toss it away, leaving the bottom part with the wheels, which I've cutted it and shortened the body, helded together by hotglue:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhbhxs8CxBJMjdkTG9pAH2AxUR3oQCgzhmnqu0lCpXJOPD4YsMC6fmrFuq_vXM6kKl-XRVHoI8rld81C_3bCecTYv0xOFseFZ_Nb4T2vy5NnTKOJq0nT291YoXwUjR5mte-VRFac5uCp9U/s1600/warbuggyglued.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhbhxs8CxBJMjdkTG9pAH2AxUR3oQCgzhmnqu0lCpXJOPD4YsMC6fmrFuq_vXM6kKl-XRVHoI8rld81C_3bCecTYv0xOFseFZ_Nb4T2vy5NnTKOJq0nT291YoXwUjR5mte-VRFac5uCp9U/s400/warbuggyglued.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<span style="color: lime; font-size: large;"><strong>SCRATCHBUILDING THE METAL PLATES AND SHOOTAS</strong></span><br />
<br />
First of all, you need lotsa and lotsa plasti rods and plastic cards...er...not really if you know what are the ones you need.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhkyvnasDF1tviOf1xPU1v5mtsijBKF9NbJrJc-LDMU0-MVkfc2ZLIeH-ficsu1gZFFDn0kIEafJTQ_c7Q0Libkuqsoy85IAVyFnt75lnLaZ6cIKCBQP0boDji-Ew3shrElRCghCOo4i0Q/s1600/rods.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhkyvnasDF1tviOf1xPU1v5mtsijBKF9NbJrJc-LDMU0-MVkfc2ZLIeH-ficsu1gZFFDn0kIEafJTQ_c7Q0Libkuqsoy85IAVyFnt75lnLaZ6cIKCBQP0boDji-Ew3shrElRCghCOo4i0Q/s400/rods.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
For this project, some 5-10 mm round plastic rods [shoota] , squares and 1-2 mm rods [for rivets] 5-10mm plastic cards [armor plates] will do:<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiYq-ecs8VKFGyz5CRz7l5S6MUyx_IX1f08Ngd_gdxo7dT3d9Z8FiXlsRi_BQj4tz058subresuTMYV1L3XYyg1E9L7rpdnitH-UBrngXD54GDClUZnpdR0xtk3TCY4rWES6vikQ8d78oA/s1600/warbuggyblastplate.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiYq-ecs8VKFGyz5CRz7l5S6MUyx_IX1f08Ngd_gdxo7dT3d9Z8FiXlsRi_BQj4tz058subresuTMYV1L3XYyg1E9L7rpdnitH-UBrngXD54GDClUZnpdR0xtk3TCY4rWES6vikQ8d78oA/s400/warbuggyblastplate.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
The armor plate infront consists of 4 parts: 2 small squares and the the bigger square in the centre, and finally a long, shorter piece for supporting the 3 pieces together. Rivets were glued at the side [see above].<br />
<br />
<br />
I made some spare shootas as you will never have enough of dakka...<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjtNdA4Tl6CihkOVaxRuxQnlPkjXUjIy89Ji_a3mvQjIrAzy4LuvOybX8qzUVsvTLacFimq-vsfmy_yu2U6bn8VKaRGV93kIhldyrFbvt-qvB0ZjfO_1jQx2X9PsRZ5Iy7HySqnoS-TZJU/s1600/shootas.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjtNdA4Tl6CihkOVaxRuxQnlPkjXUjIy89Ji_a3mvQjIrAzy4LuvOybX8qzUVsvTLacFimq-vsfmy_yu2U6bn8VKaRGV93kIhldyrFbvt-qvB0ZjfO_1jQx2X9PsRZ5Iy7HySqnoS-TZJU/s400/shootas.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
The design can be simple, as shown above.<br />
<br />
<span style="color: lime; font-size: large;"><strong>THE CREW</strong></span><br />
<br />
My friend gave my some old edition Fantasy Orcs, but rather than let them lying around hidden in some forgotten boxes, they are recycled here:<br />

<br />
OK its been awhile since I posted something, so just came back from the local gameshop and, how can a Starwars nut not have this?<br />
<br />
<strong>THE CONTENTS</strong><br />
1 Adventure Book, 1 Rulebook, 1 intro sheet, 1 double sided map, 4 Character folios, 14 Custom dice, 8 Destiny tokens, 35 Character tokens, 5 Vehicle tokens.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj09RNKHmQkvgOU4S6CzMhPMA7C1TDqsPQ_Ig4qHakHT7ndyHFCwALepGp7mUd-UA70WweUGrm1B47mAPOIx_txyjnQlO-xoyRCXD7qu2GnXPlHDb_dnKchZMaWn081yvc4xXSJJZITWyQ/s1600/2013-01-07+20.57.09.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj09RNKHmQkvgOU4S6CzMhPMA7C1TDqsPQ_Ig4qHakHT7ndyHFCwALepGp7mUd-UA70WweUGrm1B47mAPOIx_txyjnQlO-xoyRCXD7qu2GnXPlHDb_dnKchZMaWn081yvc4xXSJJZITWyQ/s400/2013-01-07+20.57.09.jpg" width="300" /></a></div>

<br />
This introductory set is decently presented, with a set of colorful custom dice, which takes a bit of getting use to. Each symbol represent Success/Failure, Advantge/Threat, etc. there are 7 dice types altogether, and each are used for their specific functions, there is the Ability die, Proficiency die, Difficulty die, Challenge die, Boost die, Setback die and the Force die. <br />
<br />
It is also for beginners who have not touched any RPGS[Role Playing games ] in mind, with easy to follow booklets like "READ THIS FIRST", and "READ THIS LAST", etc...<br />
<br />
The art is beautifully drawn but wait, there's no decent chicks?!<br />
<br />
Even Oskara the bounty hunter, the twliek on one of the character's folio, seems to want to rip your guts out lol...<br />

<br />
The cover art on the box looks "adventure" already, personally I prefer the Invasion of Theed's cover art even though its more "cartoony"...did I say the Jedi chick is cute?<br />

<br />
Other than THAT, this is a really nice product, the art is great, and rules are easy to follow.<br />
<br />
<strong>BACKGROUND</strong><br />
<br />
The intro game probably takes place somewhere between Episode 4 - 6, between A New Hope to Return of the Jedi, and had the players all trying to escape the servants and henchmen of a Hutt boss in Mos Eisley called Mos Shuuta, and plans to steal the Krayt Fang, a Millennium Falcon-like YT-1300 freighter from a Trandosan.<br />
<br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg0kY5JirHri3yowcwXo8eNVM-E2XLBZbSwiWaUZbpJWwH8f3kDlEEB6zsiAunyE_J7EL2WlK4fU2q_cGxCRSTaB1p4TqqKXOi1FzshWmxOGBJLjkfIP1ThVjg_pC0Off538yqIb0ODfoA/s1600/2013-01-07+20.58.27.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg0kY5JirHri3yowcwXo8eNVM-E2XLBZbSwiWaUZbpJWwH8f3kDlEEB6zsiAunyE_J7EL2WlK4fU2q_cGxCRSTaB1p4TqqKXOi1FzshWmxOGBJLjkfIP1ThVjg_pC0Off538yqIb0ODfoA/s320/2013-01-07+20.58.27.jpg" width="240" /></a>The story is nicely interwoven, with Teemo the Hutt as the main boss villain.<br />
<br />
The character folio are stock presented with a good background and layout so players can easily connect to each other and get the game going [and easy for the Game Master].<br />
<br />
The hard paper round tokens are useful for beginners, for the old geezers, some Star Wars miniatures are on the way!!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<strong>SHOULD YOU BUY THIS PRODUCT?</strong><br />

Even as a proud owner who had the old D6 version West End Games, the Wizard of the Coast minis games, and the D20 ones, the material presented is good although it doesnt allow you to create specific characters, a certain tweak or mod shouldnt be a problem [althought because there's no Jedi characters, you might need to get the core rulebook...] this addition, however is a good, neatly packed Introductory set which will appeal to new and old gamers alike, adding to their collection of their Star Wars RPG.<br />

<br />
Here's another set of photos from my trashbashed freighter The Bantha Express and Revell's X-wing and short story, enjoy :<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
As the Bantha Express hems and haws, its noisy old thrusters switched on and off and landed on the rebel base with a loud "TUDD". It was excorted by an X-wing on its way into the intricate and complex tunnels, heavily camouflaged at the entrance. From outside, it look nothing more like a thick forest basin.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
X-wing pilot Jaz Malone hopped out of his weathered snub fighter, and walks over to greet the captain of the Bantha Express, his childhood friend back in Dantooine.<br />
<br />

Drack Decker, or known by his shipmates as "Dee", came out from the ship and greeted his friend, while his crew unloaded the much needed shipment of rations and military graded blasters into the cargo hold. He was, however, not very pleased.<br />
<br />
"Jaz, this is the third run already, THIRD! When am I getting paid?!" At this rate I might as well sell it to the Hutts, at least they pay, even if it's less!"<br />
<br />
Jaz made a forced, apologetic smile and gave his friend a pat on his shoulders. "The commander's request for funds had been approved already, the credits will wire to your account soon, trust me, Drack...."<br />
<br />
"The rebel's cause for freedom is important, you are part of it, and we will be freed from the Imperial's tyranny soon, aren't you proud to be part of it?" <br />
<br />
Jaz, waved off his astromech while signalling for the tech people to service the Bantha Express.<br />
<br />
"Spare me the threatrics Jaz! We are not holovid stars for goodness sake! And they get paid too!"<br />
<br />
As the duo walks towards the officers' mess, Drack made up his mind.<br />
<br />
He will sell the location of this rebel base to the Imperials. Whether the rebels pay or not.<br />
<br />
<br />
He will also regret his action in time to come.<br />

This is a Revell Easy kit, which is not only snaptite or snap together kit, the colors are pre-painted, so it is really fantastic for lazy people like me ahahahah ( - -!!)<br />

The package also come with a nicely painted X-wing pilot /Luke and R2D2 or R2 unit.<br />
<br />
No scale was given, but it measures something like 1/56 , so it will be dam fine for my Star wars miniatures wargame!<br />
<br />
I'll leave the pilot out first so they looked like its docked and ready for some hero to jump into the cockpit!<br />
<br />
Having builded quite a bit of Gundam kits, I am actually quite surprised how simplified the instruction manual is, however, it does have a very good description and background of the famed X-wing.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhFX1Yr8P941KM0vjTHPnhBh_SpuMGrnJ-KkRJnPfEdzVHrM-wXVg0-qVaiSs_m7HZq1tcte2qndvLNURTywsIaC_RWbkTu4hH9GpAF30JvK6i6LxiqLKx7eX0VlqHf7UTOHGaFg5TWdNw/s1600/2012-11-07+21.25.17.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhFX1Yr8P941KM0vjTHPnhBh_SpuMGrnJ-KkRJnPfEdzVHrM-wXVg0-qVaiSs_m7HZq1tcte2qndvLNURTywsIaC_RWbkTu4hH9GpAF30JvK6i6LxiqLKx7eX0VlqHf7UTOHGaFg5TWdNw/s400/2012-11-07+21.25.17.jpg" width="300" /></a></div>
Other than that, the pictures on the manual are simple to follow although most of the parts aren't very clear, so you will have to figure out how the parts fit especially around the 4 engine exhausts area where the landing gears are...<br />
<br />
The good part :<br />
<br />
Its very easy to fix! Any person with some basic knowledge of doing kits can finish this in less than 2 hours or so.<br />
<br />
The plastic are quite hard and sturdy unlike some plane model kits which have thin plastic and are quite brittle [purely for display kind]. <br />
<br />
The kit also allow you to build with landing gear on or kept in flight mode. It shouldnt be very difficult for anyone with some basic modelling skills to drill a hole underneath it and /or give it a flight stand.<br />
<br />
The cockpit can open or close as you like, and the S-foils can open and close too!<br />
<br />
Because it's pre-colored, you can leave it as it is, but for my case, I did a bit of washing and weathering, so the end product is nicer !<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
The X-wing are washed with Vallejo's Negro black, some greys and little amounts chest nut ink.<br />
<br />
Overall a satisfying and simple build !<br />
<br />
The X-wing is ready to escort <a href="http://wargamingnut.blogspot.sg/2012/10/my-star-wars-trashbash-freighter-painted.html" target="_blank"><span style="color: #f1c232; font-size: large;">The Bantha Express</span></a> and go smuggle some supplies for the Rebel Alliance !<br />

Anyone who play the tabletop version of Warhammer 40K [made famous ala Dawn of War] will know about the Imperial Guards..have started this game waaay back when I was in highschool [20+ years lor..so now u know I uncle level one..hehehhe..<br />
<br />
why..what's wrong..here alot of uncles one ok?!... = =!!]<br />
<br />
Ogryns are basically the 40K versions of ogres, only called abhumans who are not so clever, but nevertheless recruited by the Imperial Guard to fight wars against Chaos [or Xenos ..ala Aliens..the fluff is so thick, novels and novels are written about them..so will not go into 40K literature...<br />
<br />
The official ones are metal and costs 11.25 pounds [about S$23] EACH..so a squad of 6 will cost u like $138!! <span style="color: #ffd966;">Update : They cost more now, dont they?</span><br />
<br />
So, in the modelling community, folks who dont wan to blow their noses and their wallet [so they can spend on their children la, dog la, mistress la..oops..u get wat I mean]<br />
<br />
Anyone interested can go to their website to learn about it...<br />

First, I need to make ripperguns for the 6 fellas..<br />
<br />
[Ripperguns are sturdy, easy to use automatic shotguns so Orgyns can just aim in some general direction - the enemies'..and like the old saying goes..if u keep shooting, maybe you'll hit something...]<br />

The Back view..the one on the right was pale flesh with a flesh wash..the one on the left was layered with dwarf skin tone and highlights AFTER the wash..so the effect is better.. The grenades are scratchbuilded..the red one is Krak and the green one is frag [one got better armor penetration, one got a blast radius but lesser kill effect...go figure..both have it's own use in the tabletop game]<br />
<br />
Berets are made from green stuff...spare shotgun shells lined the bandolier are plastic rods with just some gold paint at the lower part of the shell.<br />

After painting all of them, these palm-sized dudes are ready to roll into battle..recommend using Vallejo Game Colors as the adhesion is better, so the paint dont wear off too easily [yes..it still WILL chip if yr wife scratch it with her freshly manicured nails....]<br />

<br />
Here's some of the WIP and completed pics, its very tough because of a lot of repetitive work involved, but the results are satifying as hell!<br />
<br />
You'll need a chimera or basilisk kit and....<br />
<br />
You need lotsa plastic rods, lots and lots of plastic rods [and placard]:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
Followed by the WIP:<br />
<a href="http://wargamingnut.blogspot.sg/2012/10/star-wars-ish-freighter-painting-wip.html" target="_blank"><span style="color: #ea9999;">http://wargamingnut.blogspot.sg/2012/10/star-wars-ish-freighter-painting-wip.html</span></a><br />
<br />
Finally done with painting! But who knows, might just add a splash of paint here and there later lol...<br />
<br />
Quick paint job, nothing to shout about, what could have been better:<br />
<br />
- use putty to cover up the hotglue marks<br />
- more weathering<br />
<br />
Thanks for viewing !<br />

<br />
I shall called it, the <span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">BANTHA EXPRESS</span>, given the 4 xYakult thrusters looks like the stouty legs of the animal LOL<br />

It is ready to smuggle some deathsticks to the Ewoks on Endor!!<br />

Alright, slapping on some paint and WIP :<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
Note : The ship has false floorings to smuggle Deathsticks to the Ewoks in Endor.<br />
<br />
Some thoughts:<br />
<br />
When slapping paint on it, remember to add gradual highlights, and have lighter tones around the edges, in this case, the base color is Vallejo's Neutral Grey, followed by successive mix of Bone White.<br />
<br />
Some red stripes were painted, these were purposely painted carelessly to resemble the "used-space effect" or to give the ship a shoddy look.<br />
<br />
The cockpit [Yakult bottle]was given a initial gloss coat.<br />
<br />
A left over Sergeant Keroro toy sticker was used to stick wordings and decals but they have common numerics! No Aurebesh but oh well....I have a bunch of left over water-slide decals but too bloody lazy to use them..stickers are fast and good LOL.<br />
<br />
Pic taken with casting crew [not confirmed yet as there are some more auditions on the line for the upcoming space opera heheheh].<br />
<br />
Not finished yet, where's my detail brush...hmmm...<br />
<br />

Scratchbuilt and trashbashing a spaceship PART 1I am still a big fan of Starwars Miniature Battles after all these years, and after accumulating enough junk, I've finally decided to build one freighter on the cheap. This could be used as a prop, background terrain piece, or simply a possible gaming piece.<br />
<br />
First of, some of the important tools used :<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjpvUUhEU27TbOUKLGuU9tP_Fb6K58vFy_GqsLHJx6KOPKnPZ32KPgh3DUHXrO4eeTY0SWjFKUDpEJO-HVe1nf9nie3an-VjMim0wB6X-pjSSJzypCCdhT91clhLdkIDn9EZxOYf1o-JPc/s1600/2012-10-26+12.11.40.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjpvUUhEU27TbOUKLGuU9tP_Fb6K58vFy_GqsLHJx6KOPKnPZ32KPgh3DUHXrO4eeTY0SWjFKUDpEJO-HVe1nf9nie3an-VjMim0wB6X-pjSSJzypCCdhT91clhLdkIDn9EZxOYf1o-JPc/s320/2012-10-26+12.11.40.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
The cutter on the bottom has a thick, short blade which is very useful for cutting thick plastic, its better than the orange paper cutter I have next to the scissors. For people who like to trashbash and clobber common household items into their mad modelling fantasies, I could recommend the drill and hotgule gun enough!<br />
<br />
Some of the items:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh5-DrHZHV8ownA2rlutn6NKW4zTT-ihZzpYOE-txGW7gKYI5GfZ7K-7whR1n1fJeEOY3wO2fo10KaxOP_xh5sfJvodP_mHcDZoaZtVxITSIlMEGMLs9x1EUolbaCWagWiYOzaTmU2F3LM/s1600/2012-10-26+11.55.51.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh5-DrHZHV8ownA2rlutn6NKW4zTT-ihZzpYOE-txGW7gKYI5GfZ7K-7whR1n1fJeEOY3wO2fo10KaxOP_xh5sfJvodP_mHcDZoaZtVxITSIlMEGMLs9x1EUolbaCWagWiYOzaTmU2F3LM/s320/2012-10-26+11.55.51.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
A cheap water bottle.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhZ7UnyQxMg_zdB2C4VkiVIww2HDgsi3hsKpxEobfCthEYzLZqPMLN0Sv0CONEwJjQoDU2XEh02mvqD9OkJ3a5TSYMVLW5nhOZvudbgS__nQ4PcplWkunh-H7zAdTHUtNBQ92e0f9cM0rY/s1600/2012-10-26+11.43.52.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhZ7UnyQxMg_zdB2C4VkiVIww2HDgsi3hsKpxEobfCthEYzLZqPMLN0Sv0CONEwJjQoDU2XEh02mvqD9OkJ3a5TSYMVLW5nhOZvudbgS__nQ4PcplWkunh-H7zAdTHUtNBQ92e0f9cM0rY/s320/2012-10-26+11.43.52.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
Yakult bottles! I used five of them, one was used as the cockpit. The design and paint scheme will more or less mimick/copy the Millenium Falcon:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhS0FuD6aOpNCpVYLRd-08-zM95QSD6e-H4fkgxvJsNyABdtmZXcND1kaAuAhq94fZwv5HeF6UN2YVXNtjgH6tPVfVwkQ0IArU8hKECGTFvpe5JFpo2FlZGe75n3soPd3RKr8cdJQkFziY/s1600/papercraft-millennium-falcon1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="228" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhS0FuD6aOpNCpVYLRd-08-zM95QSD6e-H4fkgxvJsNyABdtmZXcND1kaAuAhq94fZwv5HeF6UN2YVXNtjgH6tPVfVwkQ0IArU8hKECGTFvpe5JFpo2FlZGe75n3soPd3RKr8cdJQkFziY/s320/papercraft-millennium-falcon1.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
Of course it will be very different, but I hope the paint scheme will more or less go in that way hehehe...<br />
<br />

The twin lasers are made from an empty dental floss casing and 2 plastic tubes.<br />
Some cards and various junks like contact lens casing, etc are then PVA glued on the body of the ship.<br />
<br />
IMPORTANT:<br />
1. When hotguling the parts together, drill a few holes on both sides so the hotglue will flow inside both parts and lock it so the hold is stronger.<br />
<br />
2. Use some sandpaper to sand down the surface of the plastic so that paint will stick better before you prime it.<br />
<br />

The tracks are from FOW bits and the legs from from EM4 some mechs, but I guess you can easily use any pair of left over legs from mech. The reverse joint is good! Some plastic tubes were added for rocket launchers and a cannon was added on the left side, and the body of the cannon is actually a left over ECM pod from some aircraft accessory.</div>

These 2 minis are Hannah Blackruby, Wizard 03329 and Tinley,Female Wizard 03563<br />
both will work as Bretonnian Damsels for my Bretonnian army !<br />
<br />
They produce some of the best minis at affordable prices, and the range allow you to mix and match if you are not too bothered about it or going to sanctioned tournaments!<br />
<br />
Looking forward to have them painted !~<br />
<br />
Meanwhile, my bretonnian army WIP. They are about 40 percent painted and largely still in progress.<br />

<br />
First off, some disposable chopsticks! These are easily availble but some twigs or dowel wood would do just fine! Some chains and some balsa 20mm wide balsa wood strips.<br />
<br />
They are cut to appropriate length:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgDHGEBNMsx4KIf5L9XLV-RJiZNFVJNNro9xahNAATolq1rg04RK-RctZ2riyOQm3emV8kpdw-pX-Q3RYIDoMkdgQcHxsrideBQMWYG2KzUYmnRv7D_Frz0C1Q70VDPRWUoNWnEwOTG4ec/s1600/2012-02-05+19.34.57.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img aea="true" border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgDHGEBNMsx4KIf5L9XLV-RJiZNFVJNNro9xahNAATolq1rg04RK-RctZ2riyOQm3emV8kpdw-pX-Q3RYIDoMkdgQcHxsrideBQMWYG2KzUYmnRv7D_Frz0C1Q70VDPRWUoNWnEwOTG4ec/s400/2012-02-05+19.34.57.jpg" width="300" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div align="left" class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
From this point onwards, I used a hotglue gun instead, including making the metal bands connecting to the chains! Its pretty crude compared to De Rochefort's lol..</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiPAqJ-Haew-qim3uUXE215imtIRYpZeeo-exU5E-E7g8UnABYM3lkX2UU50jl2VYBuZwtW0j-jQ6UKGuYF6vKYYxg46LxqLpRKIfofc_aE3tnJS6ps_AHH_u3-qYRuU42DIe7YP-AbNIo/s1600/2012-02-05+20.46.28.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img aea="true" border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiPAqJ-Haew-qim3uUXE215imtIRYpZeeo-exU5E-E7g8UnABYM3lkX2UU50jl2VYBuZwtW0j-jQ6UKGuYF6vKYYxg46LxqLpRKIfofc_aE3tnJS6ps_AHH_u3-qYRuU42DIe7YP-AbNIo/s400/2012-02-05+20.46.28.jpg" width="300" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
As hotglue are no known for being v "sticky" or strong in their bond, I smeared it all over the place and interconnect the glue like "roots" to the stakes [see above] so that the contact is stronger.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
PAINTING : </div>
<ul>
<li><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The whole thing is brush painted with black as primer.</div>
</li>
<li><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The stakes are simply painted with any wood color and the sharp point bonewhite. </div>
</li>
<li><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The metal band and chains are drybrushed with boltgun metal.</div>
</li>
</ul>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The "metal bands" connecting the chains are a bit crude and too thick in the beginning, but after getting used to controlling the flow of the hotglue, I quickly apply thin amounts consistently to more resemble metal rings.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiN3zI_81fsanCFzQZfjZ4m8v6MsZDeRN2alUvfnNaDRX-m3scj8gqjVIU-ONZCoct2rvCsjjf1WEfppugXXBHq4IyaS1ir1bjnIs0ZVNwfjKr3LeXtp6XnyS1SgJIbV7OxYbNvI73jsWo/s1600/2012-02-11+20.54.54.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img aea="true" border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiN3zI_81fsanCFzQZfjZ4m8v6MsZDeRN2alUvfnNaDRX-m3scj8gqjVIU-ONZCoct2rvCsjjf1WEfppugXXBHq4IyaS1ir1bjnIs0ZVNwfjKr3LeXtp6XnyS1SgJIbV7OxYbNvI73jsWo/s640/2012-02-11+20.54.54.jpg" width="480" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
And three more I have four now! I hotglue some rocks, smear the base with watered down PVA, add sand and its done! Now waiting for the PVA to dry, and apply one more layer to strengthen it.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Oh, in case you wonder, below are the case file of <a href="http://www.acrylicosvallejo.com/gb/index.html" target="_blank"><span style="color: lime;">Vallejo</span></a> paints I have..very great paints!</div>

For newcomers to old veterans alike, it really depends on your interests and the feel about it.<br />
<br />
I have a bunch of fellow men who only play GW, spend endless amounts of money on the expensive models and new editions.<br />
<br />
For new people trying to have a taste of wargaming or would like to play with their miniatures, some free and good rules are out there! You just have to look hard enough and HAVE AN ACCOMPLICE or a few more to make it last!<br />
<br />
Here, I present to you some of the free rules that are easy to use and doesnt have all that nonsense, endless,buying of new codex/editions and keep telling you your rulebook is outdated !<br />
<br />
<span style="background-color: blue; color: white; font-size: x-large;"><strong><u><a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hordes_of_the_Things_(wargame)" target="_blank">Horde of the Things</a></u></strong></span><br />
(click on above to go to wiki link, the FREE rules are available for downloading at the bottom of the wiki page)<br />
<br />
This simple fantasy wargame rules allow you to build and collect minis ranging from 6mm to 25/28mm depending on your preference and budget. It has a huge following and there are conversions to Sci-Fi and other genre too.<br />
<br />
The sci-fi conversion of HoTT can be found here:<br />
<a href="http://web.archive.org/web/20061206064922/http:/www.barr.karoo.net/hws/dbx/hottscifi.htm" target="_blank">http://web.archive.org/web/20061206064922/http:/www.barr.karoo.net/hws/dbx/hottscifi.htm</a><br />
by Humberside Wargames Society<br />
<br />
You can join the Yahoo! Group here:<br />
<a href="http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/HOTT/" target="_blank">http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/HOTT/</a><br />
<br />
<br />
Always download and print a copy, and save a copy in case they removed it! Like what GW has done to their specialist games like Necromunda, Mordheim,etc. Slowly killing their business indeed !<br />
<br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: x-large;"><u><strong><a href="http://www.freewargamesrules.co.uk/" target="_blank"><span style="background-color: blue; color: white;">Free Wargame Rules </span></a></strong></u></span><br />
(click on above link to go to site)<br />
<br />
<br />
The site contain a collection of wargame rules covering different genre, from carwars like games to Sci-Fi to WW2, from simple to complex ones.<br />
<br />
You can always download a copy, have it printed and organised a game or 2 showing off your collection of minis and models, have fun and rope your friends in!<br />
<br />
Before you fully commit and invest, you can always use counters, chips to represent them if you are conscious whether the rules will work for you.<br />
<br />
If you simply like buying minis and collecting them, what are you waiting for? Just go ahead already!<br />
<br />
Have a look, and have fun!<br />

<br />
Any seasoned Bretonnian players should be familar with <br />
<a href="http://www.roundtable-bretonnia.org/index.php?option=com_frontpage&Itemid=1"><span style="color: lime;">http://www.roundtable-bretonnia.org/index.php?option=com_frontpage&Itemid=1</span></a><br />
<br />
A fantastic site where all the knights and generals of Bretonnia gather and discuss tactics, modelling and everything Bretonnian !<br />
<br />
As I scoured through the postings, some of the dudes there have made their own trebuchets from scratch and even cast them !<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.roundtable-bretonnia.org/index.php?option=com_fireboard&Itemid=87&func=view&id=112066&catid=4" target="_blank"><span style="color: #f3f3f3;">Rafael de Bois et Guilbert (Rafael) 's trebuchet</span></a><br />
<br />
So, first of, I have some square rods lined up according :<br />
<br />

The counter-weight are made from light weight foam! They are about 1cm thick so two pieces are glued together with PVA and cut to good shape. <br />
<br />
Some spare foam are cut to be glued to the base later to resemble rocks [ammo] lying around for ye peasants to load them into the trebuchet. The "leather" rock holder is from a thick card, later to be soften with wet PVA.<br />
<br />
The main pole was from a disposable chopstick, with a bit of a jeweller's chains attached by hanging a paperclip to it. The counter-weight "rock" are glued with 2 strips of cardboard from those postcards.<br />
<br />
A shield shape was cutted from those free postcards and glued to the rock counter-weight too.<br />

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj0NPunWKZ6vC930UwiXU2TVYz-YYrvPJEzYoWJtwnQOyRkdemD85f8Ixfs24A3O9P8NaPXw1k2FagUIAJB-8iIO9O1aKI9mRlDmjG0dIru-iv-8EwANly8zgeTDXInxIN7dd8FAFdmdvs/s1600/zoo+animals.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img aea="true" border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj0NPunWKZ6vC930UwiXU2TVYz-YYrvPJEzYoWJtwnQOyRkdemD85f8Ixfs24A3O9P8NaPXw1k2FagUIAJB-8iIO9O1aKI9mRlDmjG0dIru-iv-8EwANly8zgeTDXInxIN7dd8FAFdmdvs/s400/zoo+animals.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
Something tells me this is dying to be converted, and I remember my Bretonnian damsels might just need a Chimera for the Lore of Beasts spell when they cast Transformation of Kadon...hell, you might just need it for a DnD game!<br />
<br />
So off we go!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgQ8zYeBHr9w3MzbyeO_DCaMcL0w0u7ZxpR-nuGbTAqdnYDq36FD-S8Ry2pIwcm-6e5q_QJvFLl6Kdg47ORlV8RmJoHQzGRWWOoF6jNpIEpnk8cAGvb_EQp0O4q_5yPerviMPCisGJ2-Hg/s1600/2012-03-24+11.31.56.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img aea="true" border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgQ8zYeBHr9w3MzbyeO_DCaMcL0w0u7ZxpR-nuGbTAqdnYDq36FD-S8Ry2pIwcm-6e5q_QJvFLl6Kdg47ORlV8RmJoHQzGRWWOoF6jNpIEpnk8cAGvb_EQp0O4q_5yPerviMPCisGJ2-Hg/s320/2012-03-24+11.31.56.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
The Chimera is supposed to have a lion head, a goat and a dragon, so I google the web for some pic reference besides the one in the GW website, one of the pics :<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgIqO6NunlBFy9KQPFy8m93_ZNgoD5kkObXhuaJLqi0CMcLwpt1GAJ0bhBf-7Y4qhg967yBhrZeVAMC5g_ACJ5zCubLKNV2UZ4gu-9IbOAPFu8zV_wE_gjxRzkOmqRe1ouz-QGH9GN0Tj8/s1600/Chimeraillustate.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img aea="true" border="0" height="210" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgIqO6NunlBFy9KQPFy8m93_ZNgoD5kkObXhuaJLqi0CMcLwpt1GAJ0bhBf-7Y4qhg967yBhrZeVAMC5g_ACJ5zCubLKNV2UZ4gu-9IbOAPFu8zV_wE_gjxRzkOmqRe1ouz-QGH9GN0Tj8/s320/Chimeraillustate.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<span style="font-size: x-small;">(picture from </span><a href="http://iamaguardian.com/310/panels-look-at-genetic-engineering-of-%E2%80%9Cchimeras%E2%80%9D-in-uk-and-germany/"><span style="background-color: white; font-size: x-small;">http://iamaguardian.com/310/panels-look-at-genetic-engineering-of-%E2%80%9Cchimeras%E2%80%9D-in-uk-and-germany/</span></a><span style="background-color: white; font-size: x-small;">)</span><br />
<br />
The pack does'nt have a dragon's head! So how?? You can either substitute it with a dragon head bit you can find on<span style="background-color: blue; color: white;"> </span><a href="http://www.ebay.com/" target="_blank"><span style="background-color: blue; color: white;">ebay</span></a><span style="background-color: blue; color: white;">, </span>or any dragon toy figure of appropriate size, but with the art of poorhammer, I used the Rhino head that came with it LOL...<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEixCivtv6MMcwOZfo4iN3DfL53t7U9BfQdGildzQSaJX5f9r3L8JN4hJcoki2jUcDsWKzLjKtmDLZCrtofBXm7Y2JAShkxOaeuprWX8e6Zk3pn4Q1Rm-pkDTMrUounWk439jhxJnPuN6y4/s1600/2012-03-24+11.36.22.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img aea="true" border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEixCivtv6MMcwOZfo4iN3DfL53t7U9BfQdGildzQSaJX5f9r3L8JN4hJcoki2jUcDsWKzLjKtmDLZCrtofBXm7Y2JAShkxOaeuprWX8e6Zk3pn4Q1Rm-pkDTMrUounWk439jhxJnPuN6y4/s320/2012-03-24+11.36.22.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
They are then pinned and hotglued to the lion's body. <br />
The material is a little bit of a softplastic, so you can drill and pin it with paperclip easily.<br />
Make sure the hotglue is hot [!] so the plastic will melt properly and glue to the surface, and any gaps are also filled with hotglue. You can do it with<span style="color: white;"> </span><a href="http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/productDetail.jsp?catId=cat470007a&prodId=prod1380024a" target="_blank"><span style="background-color: #38761d; color: white;">greenstuff</span> </a> if you happened to have some lying around. Hotglue works fine too.<br />
<br />
A part of spare wings I got from ebay from some abandoned project was added to the body, again by pinning.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjdDmcTCr5cEdADKz1-ka24YWmlNfeUYphIJ5klm09VZm0kKtYnpKGeu0gQT8Pq9jq379LOYCeagPNaO4r09EYYcIcTqc2WNlEaJke18wq6TboYsFTIfy2E0w6hP2wtGG6CSXzBUWF3jFk/s1600/2012-03-24+12.08.55.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img aea="true" border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjdDmcTCr5cEdADKz1-ka24YWmlNfeUYphIJ5klm09VZm0kKtYnpKGeu0gQT8Pq9jq379LOYCeagPNaO4r09EYYcIcTqc2WNlEaJke18wq6TboYsFTIfy2E0w6hP2wtGG6CSXzBUWF3jFk/s320/2012-03-24+12.08.55.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
It is then hotglued to a 50mmx100mm plasticard base, with 2 dressmakers pins drilled up from the bottom of the base thru 2 of the chimera's legs to make sure its tought enough to withstanding some rough handling when playing on the gameboard [IF I ever get to play]<br />
<br />
The horns of the goat and rhino were sharpened by carefully carving it with my trusty knife. It is then brushed primed black with cheap acrylics :<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj8ZET-IBHpWI4uP9dt4ot6xiNOrLicYNh33cCaiQX7aCYVvrZVxXUpBZP6h_FBXVnD5JsAaXYqRIpGww25SMWI3kv5C41dzjforxtHc5dJoXLGOZBQuJ2dRH8fu8Johwe2oAm4bhBjLvI/s1600/chimera.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img aea="true" border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj8ZET-IBHpWI4uP9dt4ot6xiNOrLicYNh33cCaiQX7aCYVvrZVxXUpBZP6h_FBXVnD5JsAaXYqRIpGww25SMWI3kv5C41dzjforxtHc5dJoXLGOZBQuJ2dRH8fu8Johwe2oAm4bhBjLvI/s320/chimera.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
They are then painted with Vallejo's paints and a layer of white wood working glue [or PVA glue] is smear onto the base, then added <a href="http://usshop.thearmypainter.com/products.php?ProductGroupId=3" target="_blank"><span style="background-color: #783f04; color: #f3f3f3;">basing sand from armypainter</span></a> [brown battleground] or you can use fine sand or cat litter. Give it another coat of watered-down PVA glue after it dries to ensure the sand doesn't fall off easily. You can add flock or bigger stones for better effect.<br />
<br />
The completed work:<br />
<br />

Finally my own Wargaming and hobby Blog! [and probably other stuff]<span style="color: white;">After dambling for almost 20+ years playing with wargames, DnD, warhammer and 40K, I've finally done it! Create a blog to record all the stuff I've done, and share with people [hopefully], the stuff I've enjoyed and made.</span><br />
<span style="color: white;"><br /></span><br />
<span style="color: white;">Let me share with you my journey of buying, painting and making models, minis and along the way, I'll show u how I make my stuff and WHAT NOT TO DO, there by wasting time and money and make the hobby more enjoyable! </span><br />

<span style="color: white;">Mixing and Matching minis in your Warhammer or 40K games? Why not? You may not be able to play in tournaments, but you can play with you friends! That said, if going to tournaments and sanctioned games is that important, you can by all means collect "Official" minis.</span><br />
<span style="color: white;"><br /></span><br />
<span style="color: white;">Me, I'll like to cut back a little and do what's enjoyable, no need to Your way or the Highway, Its My way....LOL</span><br />
<span style="color: white;"><br /></span><br />
<span style="color: white;">Recently I've got to converting stuff and having a little fun scratchbuilding. </span><br />
